Impact Stories

Jane’s Been A Migrant Worker Since She Was Just 12

In many of the communities BMF supports, mental health is often a “silent” issue due to cultural stigma. “Jane,” an older member of a minority ethnic group, was struggling with deep isolation and depression but felt that seeking professional help was a sign of weakness or “dishonor” to his family.

Bringing Diversity Together & Social Cohesion

Sarah, a local student, joined a BMF-supported heritage project at Chute House. By working alongside elders from different backgrounds to document the town’s multicultural history, she saw her neighbors in a new light. These interactions replaced “othering” with understanding, fostering a sense of shared belonging in North Hampshire.
